Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008: Scrabble Scrimmage -- 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at Sussex County Community College in Newton. Join us for this fun event.
Wednesdays, Sept. 10 through Oct. 22, 2008: We will be hosting our next training for new volunteers who wish to become tutors. We hope to add a daytime training in Warren County too during this time. Stay tuned for details. Please contact our office to be added to our mailing list to receive notification of these Fall training dates about a month prior to the start. Literacy Volunteers of Sussex County (LVSC) is an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America and a United Way member agency. We are a not-for-profit organization that has been providing volunteer tutoring services for adults in Sussex County for over 20 years. Our programs include Basic Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Literacy is the ability to read, write, speak English and use math skills in everyday life to achieve personal goals.
Literacy Volunteers of Sussex County provides tutoring services that are free, one-on-one, confidential and based on individual needs to adults in Sussex County and parts of Warren County.

LVSC trained approximately 60 new tutors during our current fiscal year of 2007-2008. In all, we've helped 150 students during this year.
